Skating Instructor - Learn to Skate and/or Specialty

Part-Time

$20.85 - $29.25 per hour

Do you have a passion for ice skating? If you answered YES, then this is the opportunity for you! The Skating Instructor is responsible for instructing specialty skating in Learn to Skate classes. The position will keep accurate attendance records, develop lesson plans, as well as evaluate and assess skill level and progress of all participants. The job may require shifts ranging from morning to evening hours.

Our Ideal Candidate

Will have knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used to teach ice skating lessons. Will have knowledge of USFS Moves in the Field, Freestyle, Ice Dance, and Pairs guidelines. Must have the ability to communicate, both written and oral, positively and effectively with patrons and class participates. Will provide a safe class environment for all students. Has the ability work with employees and the public and exercise responsible judgment as forth in the by-laws of the PSA.

Minimum Qualifications

Learn to Skate Instructor

Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent. One (1) year previous experience providing ice skate instruction. Current membership in the PSA and the USFS and/or the ISI. Must have passed the USFS 2nd and/or Juvenile Freestyle tests; or the equivalent ISU test, or the ISI Figure 3 and/or Freestyle 5 or USFS Bronze Dance test or Juvenile Pair test. Current CPR/AED & First Aid certification or the ability to obtain such certifications within sixty (60) days of employment. Concussion recognition training is required prior to employment and must be renewed annually.

Specialty Skating Instructor

Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent. One (1) year previous experience providing ice skate instruction. Current membership in the PSA and the USFS and/or the ISI. Must have passed the Junior Freestyle test or higher; or the equivalent ISU test. After two years must successfully obtain a PSA rating in their respective field. Current AED/CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain such certifications within sixty (60) days of employment. Concussion recognition training is required prior to employment and must be renewed annually.
