Skiff Mechanic

As the Slime Line Supervisor, you will be a vital member at one of our Alaskan processing facilities that collaborates with the Production Manager to assign crew members to job stations, scheduling, and overseeing of all Slime Line employees. You will act as a liaison between workers and management and must be familiar with general grading and processing of all species of Pacific salmon. As the Slime Line Supervisor, you will help to ensure the crew follows GMP and safety policies and ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the department.  

Essential Functions/Qualifications  

The responsibilities of the position include the following: 

Communicate with other departments and management to keep an efficient flow of production.  Provide guidance and train staff for each job station.  Properly record all administrative paperwork as needed.Enforce safety and sanitation policies/standards.  Monitor lot tracking and all paperwork involved with the process.  Ensure all equipment is set up and running properly.  Delegate responsibility and supervise staff.  Ensure crew attendance and punctuality.  Maintain good housekeeping of Slime Line area.  Ensure Slime Line rotation of staff during lunches and breaks.  Communicate regularly with maintenance staff on butcher and bull wheel equipment.  Communicate with Tank/Cannery Supervisor regularly.Other duties as assigned to ensure the facility and organization is fully supported and successful.

Education and Experience 

High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required.3-6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Work Environment and Schedule  

The Slime Line Supervisor is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and will be exposed to a full spectrum of outside weather conditions from wet/humid conditions with extreme cold to dry sunny conditions with exposure to direct sunlight. The Dock Lead is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times.  Position requires presence at our Alaska Processing Facility, and the ability to travel, spending a significant amount of time during the season at our various locations and processing facilities in Alaska.

Physical Demands  

Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
