We have an excellent opportunity for a Skill Builder III at our Buffalo, NY location to assist in the care and treatment of the youth and families we support.
This is a full-time position – 32-40 hours/week Saturday - Sunday, evening and weekend hours required.
This position is within the Intensive Family Support and Services Program, a Preventive service that supports youth and families within their community and home settings. The Skillbuilder III will work with high-risk youth residing in foster care or with kinship placements to reduce the risk of placement disruption by providing trauma-informed care to youth and equipping them with skill development, including social skills, Independent Living skills, behavior management, etc. Other skills necessary include the ability to develop positive connections with youth, provide crisis support, and the ability to work on an interdisciplinary team.
As a Skill Builder, you will be intricately involved in developing life and social skills in a community based setting for the youth and families we serve, while establishing a safe physical and emotional environment.
Responsibilities:
Continually demonstrate the emotional confidence and good judgment required to build productive, engaged children, youth, families and family relationships while implementing required rules and routines Responsible for managing youth and family activities within an individual or group dynamic, assuring the safety of the youth and families assigned, and applying appropriate emergency and crisis intervention principles and techniques Pro-actively maintain current knowledge of the youth and families emotional and behavioral status, assesses the effectiveness of service plans, and supports youth interactions with family and local community Provide life and social skills training for youth and familiesThis job description is not exhaustive. Level III Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED 2+ years of relevant social work/skill building experience Must have the ability to engage youth and families in trust-based relationships Must have well developed advocacy skills Effective verbal and written communication skills Valid unrestricted New York State Driver's License and must meet agency driving and insurance standards. $16.99 Minimum Rate per hour, $25.49 Maximum Rate per hour, based on experience.
