Main Purpose of the role:
Assemble centrifugal, mixed flow and axial fans to engineering drawings and specifications, ensuring mechanical integrity and alignment. Perform dynamic balancing of shafts and impellers and set up fans for mechanical and performance testing in accordance with technical requirements. Maintain strict adherence to Howden Health & Safety standards throughout all fitting, fabrication, and testing activities on the shop floor.
What will you do…
Assemble centrifugal, mixed flow, and axial fans in accordance with detailed engineering drawings, specifications and WSIs. Perform dynamic balancing of shafts and impellers to ensure optimal performance and minimal vibration Carry out occasional fabrication tasks, including basic welding, grinding, and fitting of custom components Set up fans for mechanical and performance testing, including alignment, instrumentation, and test rig configuration Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues assembly and testing set up Provide training support for Apprentices and work colleagues to ensure appropriate skill transfer. Interact & respond to all aspects of HBE supporting cost reduction, efficiency, delivery and Quality improvements Ensure adherence to company environmental, health and safety standards in compliance with company policies to ensure a safe working environmental and the minimisation of environmental impact. Dispose of all waste in accordance with site waste segregation requirements

What do you bring…
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
Recognised Mechanical Fitting apprenticeship and relevant qualifications. Rotating equipment experience, including balancing and high speed gearbox assemblies. Laser alignment experience for motors, pumps, compressors and other rotating equipment Engineering Drawing interpretation ability P&ID Drawing Interpretation ability Experience working on engineered to order packages for the Industrial Refrigeration, Petrochemical and Oil and Gas markets Previous experience of precision manufacturing & assembly components Good communication skills
Desirable skills, knowledge & behaviours:
Previous experience in large engineered assemblies Experience in a mechanical testing environment Lifting & Slinging and forklift certification General Environmental Health & Safety awareness Lean Manufacturing Skills
Our Benefits
We are offering a starting salary of £37,500 rising to £39,000 after training, with shift allowance currently operating as a three-shift rotating structure with a rate of x1.33, consisting of early shift (6am-2pm), back shift (2pm-10pm) and night shift (10pm-6am), Sunday night - Friday early. Additional overtime available out with the standard shift pattern (All overtime at 1.5)
