Job Title: Skilled Laborer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled laborer to join our team working on various projects including the JSS (Joint Support Ship) combat vessel and the Offshore Oceanographic Science Vessel projects. This role involves applying, removing, and repairing thermal and acoustical insulation on industrial equipment. You will be working with materials such as calcium silicate, glass foam, mineral wool, fiberglass, and more.

ResponsibilitiesApply, remove, and repair thermal and acoustical insulation on various types of industrial equipment.Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine insulation requirements.Select the appropriate type and amount of insulation, as well as the method of securing it.Measure and cut insulating materials to the required shape and dimensions.Fit insulation around obstructions and shape insulation materials and protective coverings.Install vapor barriers and finish insulated surfaces using metal cladding, canvas, PVC, or cement.Essential Skills2+ years of construction experienceProficiency in operating hand and power toolsAbility to meet security requirements (Permanent Resident or Citizen)Ability to read, write, and speak English effectivelyCompletion of CSTSReliable transportationAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience with insulation, carpentry, and sheet metalStrong English communication skillsCanadian citizenship preferredWhy Work Here?

Work Environment

You will work at Seaspan shipyards in North Vancouver. Parking is available on-site but fills up quickly. Our team consists of 36 employees, including one site superintendent, one other super, and five foremen. We are currently working on three ships. The shift runs Monday to Friday, starting at 5:45 am and ending at 4:00 pm, with 10-hour days (8 hours regular, 2 hours overtime). Weekend overtime may also be available.

The pay range for this position is $25.06 - $45.57
