We have immediate openings for Skilled Laborers in Dublin, VA (Blacksburg/Christiansburg/Radford area).

SUMMARY

Work on various Marine construction projects by transferring from one task to another where demands require worker with various experience and ability to work with or without close supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists with mooring vessels to wharves, tie up vessels to another vessel, or rig towing lines.Assists with loading and unloading material from barges and boats.Performs maintenance of traffic and flagging.Performs job site housekeeping duties.Assists with measuring distances from grade stakes, drive stakes, and stretches tight line.Bolts, nails, aligns, and blocks up under forms.Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.Assists with leveling earth to fine grade specifications.Assists with mixing concrete.Assists with smoothing and finishing freshly poured cement, mortar, or concrete.Assists with positioning, joining, aligning, and sealing pipe sections.Assists with erecting scaffolding, shoring, and braces.Mops, brushes, or spreads paint or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protection.Sprays materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint, or stucco through hose to clean, coat, or seal surfaces.Applies caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices.Assists with demolishing structures, saws lumber, dismantles forms, removes projections from concrete, mounts pipe hangers, and cuts and attaches insulating materials.Works in a safe and responsible manner at all times.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Merchant Marine and Able-Bodied Seaman credentials preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.  The work environment is on barges, boats and floating equipment, and accessing the work site may require climbing from barges, boats and floating equipment when they are at different levels above the water. The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to high precarious places.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, occasionally loud.

Expected base pay range for this position is:   $18.00/hr - $24.00/hr

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Kokosing at the time of the posting.  Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
