Skilled Maintenance Operator Senior

Position Summary:  Skilled Maintenance Operator role is to support and secure the electrical and mechanical areas with preventive maintenance and handling failures in the daily operation. Ensure smooth and uninterruptible running of the process equipment. Efficiently and in time perform tasks for planning and preventive maintenance on the served equipment’s. Perform the analysis of unscheduled equipment stops and find out the root cause. Correctly and fully register the information in the maintenance reporting system.

Core Responsibilities: 
•    Punctuality and daily attendance.
•    Must be available to work any shift.
•    Operate tool room equipment.
•    Trouble-shoot computer controls on machines, tools, and other equipment.
•    Weld at least carbon steel; braze sheet metal.
•    Join pipe that will carry oil, air, gasoline, and water.
•    Spec. out and write requisitions for repair material.
•    Communicate with service departments for repair information and with technical representatives of various companies and government agencies.
•    Move hazardous material.
•    Be able to function in a flexible work schedule.  Maintenance activities may have to work around production schedules.
•    Be physically fit, not afraid of heights, and able to climb and go into tight areas.
•    Perform preventative maintenance as assigned.
•    Housekeeping of areas other than where a repair has occurred or the maintenance department.
•    Performs other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by management to support Volvo Penta goals and objectives.

Skills and Knowledge Required: 
•    Good written and verbal communication skills required.
•    Self-motivated and function with minimum supervision.
•    Able to use precision measuring equipment and function in a machine shop environment.
•    Skills to operate welding and steel fabrication equipment.
•    Knowledge to do general electrical and plumbing installation and repair.
•    A working knowledge and programming abilities for programmable controllers.
•    A working knowledge of CNC equipment with diagnostic and repair skills.
•    A working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems along with electrical and mechanical controllers.
•    A working knowledge of heating and cooling systems.  These skills should include electrical controllers and general plant maintenance and diagnostic abilities.
•    PLC I training with three (3) college credit hours.
•    PLC II training with three (3) college credit hours.
•    Annual portable fire extinguisher training.
•    RCRA training annually. 

Education and Experience:  
•    High school graduate or equivalent required.
•    Seven (7) years Industrial Maintenance experience or Maintenance Technology or related degree required.
•    Associate’s degree in maintenance technology preferred.

Equipment used and working environment:
•    Tool room machinery, ladders, hydraulic man lifts, air tools, electric welders, brazing equipment and presses.
•    Normally an even temperature, well ventilated environment that is air conditioned and heated as needed.  A well-lighted plant that is clean and safe is normal.  Occasional exposure to adverse conditions to maintain equipment is necessary with all available safety equipment supplied when this is necessary.  The plant operating mode is to have a high degree of teamwork which requires excellent communication skills.
•    This is a safety critical position which requires the passing of a random drug/alcohol screening.
