Description of Job
The Accounts Receivable section of the Business Office is responsible for billing and collections for the 180-bed skilled nursing facility. This position will bill insurances such as Medicaid, Medicare, VA, private pay, hospice, commercial insurances, and supplemental plans while staying in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and all state and federal regulations.
Additionally, as an Accountant I you can expect to:
+ Bills Medicaid, Medicare, VA, private pay, hospice, and associated supplemental plans
+ Creates and tracks monthly private billing statements and creates and tracks monthly insurance billing statements
+ Collects payment upon arrival, ensures correct tracking in PCC (accounts receivable system) which includes any payer source status changes prior to discharge
+ Maintains ledger to substantiate Medicaid, Medicare, VA, private pay, and Hospice accounts receivable amounts on the balance sheet
+ Records cash receipts in PCC and prepares daily bank deposits
+ Prepares, aging, collections & Bad Debt Allowance reports
+ Manages resident Persona Needs account, issues monthly statements & reconciles monthly
+ Acts as a liaison between the Business Office, Admissions Departments, and resident/family members
+ Reviews and confirms financial status prior to admission
+ Maintains the Medicaid PETI process of the facility by coordinating with the facility's Social Services Department Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, and Business Office Manager about allowable charges and obtaining financial approval for the billing and reimbursement process
+ Discusses financial changes and obligations with resident/family members as needed due to change with the annual cost of living adjustments, i.e. 5615 forms
+ Assists residents with lump sum distribution payments from the VA so it does not jeopardize their Medicaid status
+ Monitors Medicaid eligibility, annual redeterminations, and/or updated ULTC 100.2 assessments
+ Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience Only:
+ Four (4) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position
OR
Education and Experience:
+ A combination of related education (coursework requires 27 semester hours completed in accounting or auditing) and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to four (4) years
+ Current, valid licensure as a CPA by the Colorado Board of Accountancy will substitute for four (4) years of education
Preferred Qualifications :
+ Long-term care billing experience
+ Knowledge of software/platforms including Point Click Care, Medicaid portal, Medicare billing
Conditions of Employment:
+ CDHS employees (all Direct contact with vulnerable persons):
CBI name check and fingerprint check, ICON Colorado court database, Medicare fraud database, Reference Checks, Professional License verification (licensure requirements), Drug Screen, PREA (Division of Youth Services), Trails check (direct contact with children), CAPS (direct contact with adults – Mental Health Institutes, Regional Centers, Veterans Community Living Centers)
+ Must be willing to test for Tuberculosis (TB) test.
+ Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS
