General Description

Depending on trade, scope can be construction/utility based, supporting manufacturing equipment and processes, or both.Installs, maintains and repairs industrial manufacturing equipment and utility infrastructure. 

Summary

The Skilled Trades Apprentice Program combines on the job training with academic coursework.  The successful candidate will be trained in a US Department of Labor certified apprenticeship program to work in a manufacturing environment in one of the following trades:

Electrician*Machine Repair*Millwright WelderPipefitterAuto, Truck & Trailer RepairTransmission MechanicRefrigeration & AC MaintenanceStationary Engineer PowerhouseTool & Die MakerCarpenter

Required Qualifications 

Must be able to work any shiftMust be 18 years of age or otherwise compliant with applicable State and Federal lawsHigh school graduate or equivalentMust be able to qualify for admission to university hosting academic course work.

Additional Qualifications

Individuals may be given partial credit for prior experience if applicable, including non-industrial apprenticeships or AP high school credits.

Working Conditions and Hazards

May be required to work with high voltage electricity.May be required to work in cramped positions or from ladders, in oils and greases, etc.Must be able to pass the industrial vehicle physical examination.

*Most apprentices will be trained as either Electrician or Machine Repair.
