This position involves moderate to heavy manual labor and consists of routine and repetitive duties, critical to our overall park and trail experience. The ideal candidate has current knowledge of both landscaping and grounds maintenance practices.This position starts out paying $19.56/hr (Step 1) and benefits begin within 60 days of hire! About the PositionIn this role, you will...
Operate and assist teams in landscaping, tree trimming, and utilizing various landscape equipment, as assigned within common grounds throughout county park locations.Perform work utilizing equipment such as, but no limited to: Mowers, blowers, weed trimmers, edgers, chainsaws, chippers & stump grinders, and various equipment. Cleaning and general maintenance of all equipment to keep in good working order.Completion of daily work orders and other related office duties.Perform other duties as assigned.About the ScheduleWork Hours:
Full-Time, 40 hours per week.Typical Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (no weekends!)As a reminder, all county employees are considered essential and must be prepared to protect and support the community and its citizens. Each employee, without exception, will have a duty assignment and be required to work during a disaster or declared emergency.About YouMinimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent education
Two (2) years of related experience performing landscaping, tree work or grounds maintenance.
Valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.
The ideal candidate has the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:
Ability to represent the County to the public in a courteous manner and to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under hot and humid conditions.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five years.
Physical Demands: Employees in this role must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs.
