Job Description

Our Skycap Agent is a front-line representative, primarily responsible for assisting passengers with their luggage at the curbside and throughout the airport. This role includes greeting passengers, handling luggage check-in and transport, providing directions and information about airport facilities, and assisting with special needs or requests. The Skycap Agent must also coordinate with airline staff to ensure smooth passenger flow and adhere to airport security and baggage handling procedures. Excellent customer service and the ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting and moving luggage, are essential aspects of this position.

 

WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK AS A SKYCAP AGENT

You like working as a team, toward a common goal Provide curbside check-in services for passengers, including baggage handling Assist passengers with special needs or disabilities in navigating the airport Explain and enforce airline and airport baggage regulations Operate baggage handling equipment safely and efficiently Tag and manage luggage to ensure correct routing and delivery Offer information and guidance on airport facilities, gates, and flight schedules Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor with all passengers You have a great attention to detail You enjoy working with a team or individually to accomplish your tasks Strong customer service skills Like to build long term relationships with your customers Physical activity may include: Stand and walk for extended periods of time Ability to lift 70 pounds or more Be able to hear and respond to the spoken voice and to audible alarms generated by terminal environment Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); Distance Vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); Depth Perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); Ability to Adjust Focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)

 

Qualifications

Minimum age of 18 years old Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, to include documents Prior experience in customer service or hospitality Ability to lift and handle heavy luggage Strong communication and interpersonal skills Familiarity with airport procedures and regulations Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays Basic computer skills for check-in and record-keeping tasks Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)
