This position provides service to Home Care patients through delivery, assembly, and instruction on safe use, follow-up visits, and on-call trouble shooting of durable medical equipment (DME). Responsibilities include receiving physician orders, insurance verification, gathering pre-authorizations, scheduling, and pre-certifications for assigned DME area. Maintains records and produces audit reports as required. Requires demonstrated proficiency of training on all products and equipment available. May distribute and review educational materials to patients and families as needed for DME. Performs financial counseling when appropriate. Explains and obtains signatures on hospital legal forms i.e. Financial Agreement, Hospital Grievance policy.

Responsibilities Provides equipment and instructs patients in the setup of specified types of home medical equipment, in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements. Provides patient education in 1:1 or group setting as needed for demonstrations. Communicates any change in the patient’s home setting or equipment usage to their direct supervisor.Knowledgeable of all rental and retail products sold at the location, and completes documentation associated with delivery of products in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements. Completes competencies of all products to ensure knowledge of current standards.Performs preventative maintenance, repairs and asset management of all durable medical equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies.Receives physician orders for DME equipment and seeks clarification, if necessary. Enters insurance information into DME patient records system. Accurately and completely documents all information ensure maximum reimbursement. May obtain all necessary signatures and documentation, as required by the patient’s insurance plan. Communicates with physicians and other employees to resolve outstanding issues and/or patient concerns.May provide financial counseling to patients and their families. Explains FHP financial policies and provides information as to available resources and avenues for alternative payment arrangements. Assists patients and their families in completing financial assistance paperwork when appropriate. Collect patient account payment. Distributes educational materials to patients and families, when necessary. Responds to diverse questions or refers to appropriate clinical staff.Meets or exceeds productivity standards. Completes daily assignments and maintains accurate equipment logs and patient records. Identifies opportunities to improve work processes and practices good work group dynamics.Audits the patient charts created during shift for completeness, payor requirements and regulatory compliance. Qualifications Requires high school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.Requires one (1) to two (2) years previous durable medical equipment experience required. Must be proficient in all departmental duties and competencies as outlined by the Foundation Health durable medical equipment departmental procedures.Must have the ability to follow oral and written directions as they relate to the functions listed above.Must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills in order to effectively interact with departmental personnel, assist customers with inquiries, schedule meetings and appointments, and provide assistance with incoming telephone calls and walk-ins.Requires the ability to work effectively with common office software, including spreadsheets and word processing. Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task workload in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional manner.Able to prioritize and organize daily work according to patient needs. As is typical in this industry, variable shifts, hours, and on-call duties may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
