Sleep Lab Technician

JOB SUMMARY

A sleep lab technician develops competency in and performs basic sleep and EEG testing procedures. The sleep lab technician works under general supervision and provides procedures requiring specialized knowledge and skills in support of the provision of diagnostic and/or therapeutic services to a specified patient population. The sleep lab technician ensures accurate diagnostic results for patients of any age of graphically recorded impulses generated by the brain providing quality outcomes by performing EEG (electroencephalogram) consistent with department policies. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent 

Minimum Work Experience 1 year Required Licenses/Certifications

Registered EEG Technologist, RRT/CRT or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) 

CPR certified Completion of a STAR-designated Self-Study education program Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

EEG preparation, set up, and electrode placement 

Sleep Study preparation and set-up

Sleep Study procedures

Use of recording units

Maintains professional appearance and decorum at all times 

Compose applicable policies and procedures

Compile statistics
