JOB SUMMARY
+ A Sleep Center Technician: This position is responsible for performing and evaluating overnight polysomnograms and other sleep related procedures and related functions as prescribed by a physician under the general supervision of a polysomnographic technologist (RPSGT) and/or the clinical director (MD, PhD, DO) or designee. A Sleep Center Technician Trainee: This position is responsible for developing competency in, performing, and evaluating overnight polysomnograms and other sleep related procedures and related functions as prescribed by a physician under the direct supervision of a polysomnographic technician or polysomnographic technologist (RPSGT). This position, both Technician and Technician Trainee, requires providing services to one or more age populations, including adolescent through geriatric, in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
+ Education/Training/Experience:
+ REQUIRED:
+ Technician, required: High School Diploma. Minimum of 6 months experience as a Polysomnographic Trainee with documented proficiency in all required competencies or 1 year of experience working in a sleep lab or graduate of an accredited sleep program. Eligible for board certification/registry is preferred.
+ Technician Trainee, required: high school diploma or GED, plus 6 months of direct patient care experience or 1 year of post-secondary education, or current enrollment in an accredited educational program leading to an associates degree with an emphasis on polysymnography.
