Perform running maintenance by grinding and/or resetting the slitter knives, adjust and repair gauging equipment, chains, squaring fingers and replace worn or broken parts.Perform overhaul by dismantling the Slitter and Dexter Feeder. Inspect all parts for wear and breakage, replace/repair as required. Reassemble, align, retime and put into operation. Make size changeovers by removing only necessary parts, wash and store parts in prescribed containers and locations. Install correct change parts, retime, grind, and adjust the Slitter to conform to the proper size.Maintain inventory of spare parts by ordering in writing through stock room clerk or department supervisor, maintain record of parts used by each line.Inspect bundles of plate prior to loading into Dexter feeder, to confirm specifications to the line operating schedule.Load Dexter feeder by manually pushing bundles of plate along rollers to Dexter feeder, raise load to feed position and make minor adjustments to feeder and slitter as required, operate machine by manipulating controls.Manually remove cut tin plate from slitter and block, check for squareness and other defects, place in hopper of body maker and/or on bench.Perform required quality inspection on body blanks at the designated intervals and record the results on the proper forms.Record material, production and scrap information on prescribed forms.Remove ends from packaging and manually feed into rotofeed, visually check for defective ends, set defective ends aside for further inspection, notify quality control.Observe operation of machines for any deviation from standard performance or quality, stop machines when necessary and take corrective action or notify mechanic, restart when necessary.Assist in plant maintenance as directed. Relieve breaks for other positions.
We need you to have:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalencyThe ability to use combination squares, micrometers, dial indicators, other precision measuring instruments, temperature gauges, various wrenches and screwdrivers, drills, taps, reamers, gear pullers, levels, drill and hydraulic presses, hoists, jacks, power saws, grinders, acetylene torches, and other hand and power tools common to this trade.The ability to kneel, stoop, crawl, squat, and stand for extended period of time, while running machinery. This could last up to 12 hours, however, not continuous. The ability to safely operate and maintain machinery while exposed to a variety of physical conditions, such as being in proximity of moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and exposure to hot mechanical components or hazardous chemicals.
