Small Aerospace Plant Manager

Basic Qualifications

For this position to be successful, the incumbent should meet the following qualifications:

Must possess bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution, in Business or a technical field Must have experience leading a manufacturing department with 100+ people. Must have experience managing medium to large manufacturing operations. Must have a minimum of 7 years of progressive management experience in heavy industrial manufacturing Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This position is also subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee.) The ability to effectively communicate (verbally and written) and delegate while maintaining forward motion on key deliverables. A high degree of interpersonal skills to motivate and influence others, including those not under their direct supervision. Demonstrated ability of problem solving, systems thinking, project management, and team building.

Preferred Qualifications

An MBA degree from an accredited institution.  Qualifications and experience in Lean Manufacturing. Experience working with hydraulic systems, heavy machinery, and large-scale production equipment. Experience leading 250+ people. Maintenance and engineering experience.  Profit and loss ownership.

Working Environment

       This position involves minimal exposure to risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions. Work is            normally performed in a shared work environment divided between the shop floor and an interior work space. While        not exposed to hazardous materials, this position requires wearing full PPE to protect from mobile equipment and            hot materials when on the shop floor.   

Th    This is position requires light physical activity, such as walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time.

Employees on location: 350 hourly, 40 salaried

Job Scope

      This position is responsible for safely delivering the financial plan as measured by both financial and non-financial             indicators as it directly relates to safety, profitability, quality, delivery, and employee engagement. This position                 oversees the entirety of the location’s Small Aerospace Operations Department (H Plant). The H Plant Manager plans,       directs, and controls activities of the operating unit to accomplish budgeted financial objectives and customer                   requirements. The incumbent communicates continually with all managers, supervisors, and leads within each                   Cleveland Operations Departments

       Key Deliverables

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Guides the implementation of long and short-range plans, policies and programs associated with assigned business unit product offerings, within the broad framework of operating unit and corporate strategy and under the direction of senior management to achieve approved objectives. Developing manufacturing operation plans in alignment with company policies, goals, and objectives.  Leads a clear channel of communication and coordination between functional counterparts in the business – marketing, engineering, finance, manufacturing, operations, and quality and external to business unit, customer service, sales, sales administration, technical services, and distribution.  Responsible for cross-functional coordination and specification of effective processes and standards for support departments. Set and deliver year-on-year productivity improvements and cost savings by encouraging continual improvements.  Ensure H Plant capacity will meet customer demand while minimizing costs. Translate improvements into savings and deliver on yearly targets.  Delivering determined financial objectives by reaffirming existing production goals, or setting new goals, to lead the team to a realization of those goals.  Delivering operational excellence by optimizing capacities, implementing total cost effectiveness, and valuing the customer base. Ensuring operation plans are efficient and achieve targeted costs to maximize the business unit’s value.  Executing plans for quality and process excellence to ensure consistent quality assurance in terms of procedures, controls, and feedback.  Ensuring that adequate people development plans and capable succession plans are in place.  Performing other duties as assigned.
