Job Description
The Translational Imaging team at our Research & Development Division West Point is seeking a talented Research Scientist that can work in a collaborative research environment to support pre-clinical drug discovery programs in Oncology and Neuroscience. The qualified candidate must be proficient at tail vein injections in mice. Imaging training and operation of equipment will be provided for the development and application of in vivo imaging protocols for small animal using positron emission tomography (PET), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and computed tomography (CT). Predominant responsibilities will include operation of PET/CT cameras and rodent handling/preparation which includes but not limited to tail vein injections, anesthesia monitoring, and administration of compounds including short-lived (such as F-18, C-11, Zr-89) radioactive compounds. The role will require learning to culture tumor cell lines and subsequent generation of subcutaneous tumor models in mice.
Education Minimum Requirement:
BA/BS/MS in life sciences, animal sciences, pharmacology or relevant fields
Required Experience and Skills:
Bachelor’s minimum plus at least 5 years experience or Master’s with 2+ years in a relevant field
Extensive hands-on experience in small animal handling including tail vein injections in mice
Strong record keeping skills
Great team player
Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail
Strong record of successfully working in a highly collaborative environment
Excellent communication skills to communicate experimental results to the project team members
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Experience with culture tumor cell lines and/or subsequent generation of subcutaneous tumor models in mice
Multiple compound administration routes (IP, SC, PO), IV catheter placement, biofluid and tissue collection, anesthesia administration and animal monitoring
Experience operating small animal imaging instrumentation (PET, MRI, etc)
