**Job Description**
The principal responsibility is to support the team in certain process areas like as manual payments, balance sheet review and quality improvements, and to actively work on areas where technical solutions and new ways of working will ensure a significant improvement in business performance and standard processes in the C&B teams of GBS EMEA. The successful candidate would do reviews and approval of certain tasks, support the daily operation in agreement with the management, be involved in finance projects across business operations.
The colleague must be a driver of improvements in this area and be able to resolve steps to achieve the goals set. The person in the role will be a highly motivated individual with excellent communication and technical skills. They have the ability to prioritize and follow through in a fast-paced, multitask environment.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Understand the functionality, interfaces, and interdependencies of Thermo Fisher's financial processes and systems
+ Carry out GEMBA walks with the team members and leadership to identify process gaps, improvement areas and help leadership to design a roadmap to fill these gaps and achieve development goals
+ Provide guidance to the C&B Accountants as needed both in projects and in business-as-usual operation
+ Identify and lead development of process improvements
+ Providing weekly/bi-weekly presentation on potential and ongoing projects to management
+ Support the management in the central projects related to C&B accounting processes: participate in calls, perform testing, train team members
+ Coordinate Balance Sheet Reconciliation process together with team manager: review and approve reconciliations, support team in open item management and R item resolution, increase quality of reconciliations
+ Support manual payment process: initiate, coordinate and approve manual payments
+ Run bank access periodical review and coordinate new access requests for new team members
+ Ensure compliance with Corporate Accounting policies, procedures, and controls (SOX).
+ Being the focal point between external Audit and the assigned team
+ Confirmed capability in supporting the accountant staff in daily operation issues
+ Act as a senior role model for the accountants
**Skills Required:**
+ Ability to work to meet timeline with handling multiple situations
+ High level of proactivity to drive continuous improvement
+ Shown understanding of C&B procedures
+ Excellent communication in English to interact at various levels inside & outside the GBS
+ Accuracy is required in covering all aspects of the role
+ Proficient in MS Excel
+ Working experience of different ERPs

**Education and Experience:**
+ University or College Degree in Finance field
+ 3-5+ years of related-business experience in a similar role & prior experience in Shared Services or multinational company
+ Experience of cash accounting or other accounting environment
+ Recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g ACCA, CPA, CIMA)/ International qualification (US GAAP) is an advantage
