SME Liquid Cooling Technician - Data Center Maintenance

What success looks like in this role:

We are seeking an experienced   L4 / Subject Matter Expert (SME) Liquid Cooling Technician   to join our team and play a crucial role in developing a best-in-class offering around   Data Center Liquid Cooling Maintenance. In this role, you will leverage your deep technical expertise to lead the setup, maintenance, and optimization of liquid cooling solutions within data centers, ensuring high reliability, energy efficiency, and performance of critical infrastructure.

As a Senior Technician, you will be responsible for guiding and mentoring junior team members, driving continuous improvements in maintenance practices, and ensuring that the liquid cooling systems are maintained to the highest standards. You will also collaborate closely with Solution Management, operations, and sales teams to develop solutions and offerings around liquid cooling that meet the evolving needs of our clients.

What Success Looks Like in This Role:

1. Your expertise will be key to developing a robust, scalable offering for liquid cooling solutions tailored to our clients' data center needs. Success will be measured by your ability to design and implement solutions that are easily scalable, cost-effective, and future-proof.

2. As an SME, you will be expected to mentor and train junior team members   on liquid cooling technologies, best practices, and troubleshooting techniques, ensuring a high level of competence across the team

3. Proactive Maintenance and Issue Resolution: You will be instrumental in ensuring   proactive maintenance   schedules are established, and that any issues or failures in the cooling systems are quickly identified and resolved. Success will be reflected in reduced system failures and quicker resolution times

4. Effective collaboration with solution management , operations , and   sales   will be essential in ensuring the liquid cooling offering aligns with customer requirements and company objectives. Your success will also be measured by how well you can contribute to the growth and evolution of the service offering based on client feedback and market trends.

5. In depth knowledge about Liquid Cooling components like  CDU , Rack Manifolds , Coolants , Primary and Secondary Supply lines.  A good understanding of the ecosystem and players who work in this space will be an added advantage.

Key Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

-   10-12 years of hands-on experience   working with   Data Center cooling solutions  , particularly in   liquid cooling systems  .

-   Expert knowledge   of   liquid cooling technologies  , including   direct-to-chip cooling  ,   immersion cooling  , and   chilled liquid loop systems  . Experience with various manufacturers and technologies is preferred.

- Develop and maintain documentation related to system configuration, processes, and procedures.

- Proficiency in   troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance   of cooling infrastructure within Data Centers.

- Deep understanding of   Data Center operations   and infrastructure, including   power, networking, and environmental systems  .

- Strong understanding of   thermal dynamics  ,   heat transfer  , and   energy efficiency   principles as they relate to Data Center cooling.

- Experience working with   monitoring tools   (e.g., sensors, SCADA systems) to ensure cooling systems are operating within optimal parameters.

- Ability to identify and implement   continuous improvement initiatives   to enhance cooling system reliability, efficiency, and performance.

-Train-the-Trainer Facilitation: Facilitate ‘train-the-trainer’ courses to empower the Services team in delivering effective customer training while promoting best practices. 

-Evaluation and Improvement: Implement evaluation metrics and feedback mechanisms to assess training program effectiveness, analyzing results to optimize learning outcomes and technical competence across teams. 

-Logistics Coordination: Manage all logistical aspects of training sessions, including scheduling, venue arrangements, and equipment setup, to ensure smooth and effective training delivery. 

Preferred Skills:

-   Experience with AI-powered monitoring and optimization systems   for liquid cooling solutions.

-   Familiarity with industry standards and certifications   such as   ASHRAE   and   Uptime Institute   for Data Center cooling best practices.

- Hands-on experience with   maintenance management software   (CMMS) for tracking and documenting maintenance schedules and performance metrics.

-   Project management   experience, particularly in the implementation and upgrade of cooling solutions within data center environments.

- Strong understanding of   sustainability goals   related to cooling technologies, including the reduction of   PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness)   and optimization of energy consumption.

Educational Requirements:

-   Bachelor's degree  or a related technical field (preferred).

- Relevant certifications (e.g.,   Certified Data Center Cooling Specialist (CDCCS)  ,   ASHRAE certifications  , or similar) are a plus.

Soft Skills:

- Strong   communication   and   collaboration skills  , with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, clients, and internal stakeholders.

- Proven ability to   analyze complex systems   and provide   effective, practical solutions   under pressure.

- High level of   attention to detail   and a commitment to excellence in execution.
