SME (Subject Matter Expert) Network Plant Engineer (ISP / OSP)

As a SME Network Plant Engineer (ISP / OSP), you will serve as a principle authority for the planning, design, implementation, and sustainment of Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) telecommunication infrastructure. This technical role provides enterprise-level expertise to ensure all fiber and copper network plant systems are engineered and executed in compliance with DoD standards, and industry best practices. This role leads strategic infrastructure initiatives and advises program leadership on best practices for network plant design, modernization, and sustainment. This position serves as the technical lead for complex base-wide cabling projects, guiding the integration of physical layer systems with operational technology (OT), IT networks, and communication facilities to support resilient and scalable enterprise connectivity. Position will be located at Buckley SFB. This position is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X. #clearance Responsibilities Major Job Activities: + Subject matter expert. + Oversees the survey, design, and implementation of physical fiber and copper cable plants, power connections (in coordination with licensed electricians), conduits, patch panels, and butterfly diagrams. + Oversees the restoration of facilities to pre-install or better conditions. + Works on telecommunication projects of varying size, scope, complexity, and location, supporting preliminary development of the SPRIP. + Oversee and attend site surveys, documents current site ISP / OSP configurations, and designs and optimizes supporting infrastructure. + Approves SDPs and Final SPRIP, defines requirements for circuit testing, and follows all applicable standards, including the National Electric Code. + Assists in providing an IUID Marking Plan and a procurement LOM. + Oversees deployment teams for survey, installation, testing, and QA activities, as well as pre-implementation coordination. + Approves engineering implementation plans and project drawings, performs quality checks, and supports safe work environments. + Identifies and resolves complex project problems, oversees systems pre-tests and acceptance tests, and ensures installations meet safety standards and work site conditions. + Supervises ISP / OSP engineers or subcontractors, plans and leads major technology assignments, evaluates performance results, and functions as a technical subject matter expert across multiple project assignments. Material & Equipment Directly Used: Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and AutoCAD. Working Environment: Office environment with potential to support austere locations. Physical Activities: Must be able to lift / carry 50 lbs. Qualifications Education / Certifications: + Technical BA / BS Degree; Or + High School Diploma or Associate Degree. + Required: BICSI RCDD certification Experience / Skills: + 10 years with BA / BS Degree; Or + Minimum of 12 years of experience performing as Lead Wired Engineer or similar skill set on large, complex networks with a High School or Associate Degree. + 2 years managing / leading ISP / OSP modernization projects. + Experience supporting DoD projects, specifically network modernization projects. Clearance Requirement: + This position requires an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret (Tier 3) level clearance. Skills & Technology Used: + Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and AutoCAD.
