Smith Equipment - Maintenance Supervisor
**Job Description:** The Maintenance team at Smith Equipment is looking for a positive professional who can work well in a fast paced, dynamic manufacturing setting. The Maintenance Supervisor position will be responsible for the management of the maintenance personnel in the key areas of safety, quality, customer service, productivity, and cost savings. The individual will create a system for delegation of work, spare parts management, preventative maintenance tracking and planning. **What you will focus on in the Maintenance Supervisor Role:** **Maintenance and Repairs:** + Utilize system to schedule and track production work orders, maintenance hours, breakdowns, and spare parts. Oversee calibration of equipment. + Supports coordination of off-hours emergency repairs by communicating with maintenance personnel to repair breakdowns. + Observes and inspects jobs in progress; provides feedback and insight to maintenance staff. + Ensure all maintenance personnel follow safety/environmental guidelines and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions. + Ability to diagnose problems affecting acceptable operation of equipment, machines and facility as well as training others to diagnose problems. + Develop maintenance standard operating procedures and schedules. **Facility, Equipment, and Resource Management:** + Supervise the maintenance department to ensure that the building, grounds and machine maintenance is conducted in a timely manner that best supports our production requirements. + Maintains laboratory and model shop equipment, facilities and records according to approved standards and calibration needs. + Directs maintenance resource allocation, prepares work schedules, and prioritizes work requests. Confirms that the materials, equipment, and labor required to complete the task are available. + Implement and maintain the maintenance pipeline, backlog, work order documentation, preventative maintenance program, and spare parts. + Help develop and execute the annual budget. + Assess building, machines and grounds to plan work assignments and project schedules + Evaluate facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed + Manage vendor relationships, including but not limited to grounds maintenance and janitorial services **Team Leadership and Development:** + Participate in personnel decisions including hiring, transfers, training requirements, and any disciplinary actions following all internal guidelines. + Lead safety, quality, customer service, productivity, and cost-saving initiatives through employee involvement and ITW toolbox principles. + Create and maintain superior team safety awareness + Assess and evaluate team members' performance and goals regularly while supporting goal achievement. + Develop and implement a training matrix for maintenance technicians. + Encourage employee personal accountability, along with positive and proactive attitudes. + Provide information and collaborate with team to effectively manage scheduling and resource planning. + Manage time and attendance (Dayforce). **Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or 5 + years of related maintenance manufacturing experience + Proficient with Microsoft Office applications + Proficient time management, multitasking and prioritization skills + Demonstrates a positive attitude and takes personal accountability, coaches, listens, and is approachable + Problem solving and conflict management skills + Embodies ITW Values + Exhibits encouragement of diverse ideas, with a focus on coaching/developing strengths of team members, and the ability to facilitate effective communication between shifts + Skilled at performance management, providing formal and informal feedback to employees in timely manner + Familiar with common OSHA requirements + Strong oral, written and communication skills
