This is a 1.0 FTE grant-funded position. Funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-ED) is through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered by the Federal Food and Nutrition Services (FNS).

POSITION DETAILS:
This position is a full-time, non-exempt position, 37.5 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $23.00 to $26.00 commensurate with experience. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance , NYS retirement, vacation, sick and personal leave.

Master’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Health Education, Public Health, Nursing, and/or Education or equivalent education (Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Health Education, Public Health, Nursing and/or Education (includes persons with RD, RDN, CCN, CNS and RN) with four (4) years transferrable relevant experience).Experience relevant to the role of the position.Valid NYS driver’s license and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.Preferred Qualifications:

Program Development - 10%
Assist SNAP Ed Regional Program Manager in the development of innovative SNAP-ED educational programming and strategies.Assist the SNAP Ed Regional Program Manager in research, identification and selection of existing resources for program use.Assist SNAP Ed Regional Program Manager in the creation of program materials, teaching materials, and resources to address identified needs.Assist SNAP Ed Regional Program Manager in structuring SNAP-ED programs to meet the diverse needs of the community and program participants.Assist SNAP Ed Regional Program Manager with developing/maintaining Extension/Cornell University faculty connections for guidance with program development.Assist SNAP Ed Regional Program Manager to make program changes as needed based on evaluation outcomes.Program Delivery, Evaluation and Applied Research - 65%
Delivery high quality programming to individuals and groups utilizing existing SNAP-ED program materials and resources.Utilize existing program materials and educational framework to teach the targeted number of both adult and youth participants in the SNAP-ED Program.Apply existing subject matter knowledge to create lesson plans and adapt established curriculum and materials to meet established program objectives.Implement already-established SNAP-ED educational programming and program activities in support of other nutrition programming efforts as identified/needed to support the established Plan of Work.Assist with implementing SNAP Ed policy and environmental initiatives.Assist in providing existing SNAP-ED and Nutrition education information to bring awareness to the public in the form of impact statements, success stories, articles for progress/annual reports, and news releases, etc.Work to foster acceptance of the SNAP-ED program, methods and policies while addressing community and individual needs and considering diverse audiences.Assist in multi-association team efforts through join implementation of multi-disciplinary programs and program activities to deliver the SNAP-ED program.Serve as subject-matter resource in the area of nutrition to staff, other nutrition educators, participants, community organizations and the general public.Serve as a team member and cooperate with the entire Association and Nutrition Program staff to achieve SNAP-ED/Nutrition grant delivery goals as well as overall Association program delivery goals. Represent CCE before the public, participants, community leaders, government officials, Cornell or other land grant universities in a professional manner as part of program delivery.Implement program evaluation as designed.Interact with program participants, advisory committees, Cornell program specialists and faculty, county and community leaders to obtain evaluation data for programs.Assist SNAP Ed Regional Program Manager in the process of analyzing program data, and based on that analysis, assist in making recommendations for improvements in program offerings.Communicate evaluation findings to constituents as appropriate.Administrative Responsibilities:

Assist with establishing program goals and priorities.Provide input into the planning of policy, system and environmental initiatives.Assist with identifying existing coalitions or appropriate partners with whom to collaborate on policy and environmental change initiatives and programming to addressing community gaps/needs.Assist supervisor with planning program budget.Assist with identifying activities and resources necessary to implement initiatives and projects.Assist with development and planning of marketing strategies and promotion to reach target audiences and meet program objectives through public relation initiatives and networking/collaborating with government, economic, educational and community organizations.Assist in planning social media, mass media, and marketing plans.Assist in the planning of public events and programs including, but not limited to, assisting with mass media efforts related to upcoming events and programs such as National Nutrition Month.Assist in planning program delivery.Assist in multi-association team efforts through joint planning of multi-disciplinary programs and program activities to deliver the SNAP Program.Assist in identifying and recommending program needs (i.e. program supplies and materials).May provide occasional guidance to coworkers for a specific program or project.Assist with identifying opportunities and provide marketing guidance for other nutrition educators.Assist supervisor in identifying group or individual SNAP staff development/training needs.Coordination/Operation - 5%
Utilize existing program materials and educational framework recruit the targeted number of both adult and youth participants in the SNAP Program.Organize and coordinate SNAP program implementation activities (i.e. food demonstrations, direct lessons to adults and youth, etc.) and planning efforts to support delivery of established program goals.Submit accurate program related expense receipts, expense and mileage reports as required.Coordinate identified administrative aspects of the SNAP Program including, but not limited to: preparing correspondence, maintain files, maintaining participant records, etc. ensuring confidentiality of all information.Coordinate, compile and organize existing program resources and program materials. Assist in the promotion of public events and programs including, but not limited to, assisting with mass media efforts related to upcoming events and programs such as National Nutrition Month.Effectively maintain existing professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts. Assist in utilizing effective marketing and communication strategies in the promotion of SNAP programming to include, but not limited to, print media, news media, social media, multi-media efforts and the environmental change initiative in collaboration with other nutritionists.Assist with reaching out to media and elected officials for events. Prepare press releases, articles and letters.Maintain records, complete reports, accurately collect and prepare paperwork as required for the program evaluation process.Maintain extreme confidentiality of information participant information and data collected.Prepare materials for report submission to meet funding agency requirements.Assist with scheduling staff time to ensure program needs are met.Assist with training new SNAP staff such as providing mini curriculum-specific tutorials.This position may require the transport of program participants and/or program materials and resources in performing position responsibilities.Professional Improvement - 5%
