Organization Overview:

The ExploR&D Pharmaceutical Project Manager (PPM) will provide operational drug development leadership across the External Innovation R&D portfolio. This includes partnering with ExploR&D Program Leads to ensure implementation readiness, program oversight and support external partnerships for collaboration projects including both clinical and preclinical deliverables.   As necessary, this role will also liaise with ExploR&D Business Development and Discovery Program Leads to enable seamless program transitions. 

 

Responsibilities:

Facilitating and Supporting ExploR&D Collaboration Portfolio Delivery:

Support ExploR&D Program Leads through planning, execution and oversight including identification and removal of internal barriers for scientific teams and external partners:

o  Plan, direct and lead cross-functional team meetings including agendas, minutes and necessary follow-up actions.

o   Communicate with external partners to drive alignment and action items to progress program deliverables. 

o Provide quality and timely content (i.e. agendas, meeting minutes) by partnering with ExploR&D Program Lead and functional team members while leveraging project management tools (e.g.,. PRISM, SmartSheet, PowerBI, internal financial systems) and ensuring all team members have appropriate access to information.

o Monitor and prioritize program risks, contribute to mitigation strategies and initiate contingency plans as needed.

o Ensure change management processes in place to manage the project and reconcile with project commitments made with partner on scope, cost, schedule, and value.

o  Develop integrated project plans aligned with the obligations of the collaboration agreements and oversee delivery of project milestones

o Monitor programs and milestones to ensure achievement of key project deliverables in alignment with the integrated development project plan and in compliance with quality standards.

o Drive financial accounting (direct and indirect) across programs, providing internal reports (actual vs. planned, etc.), lead discrepancy resolution, and partner with finance to ensure accuracy of partner invoicing as needed.

Leads through shared learning, process improvement, and identification of special/complex needsShare learnings and retrospectively review lessons learnedBring forward areas for continual process improvement to increase efficiency and success Liaise with Project Management Office (PMO), Resource Modeling and Forecasting (RMF) and Portfolio Operations and Business Planning (POBP) teams to identify, share, and incorporate best practices into future processes, tools and training to support both External and Internal R&D

Basic Requirements:

Four-year degree preferably in a health-related, scientific or engineering fieldMinimum of 3 years of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry, drug development, or project management and/or product development

 

Additional Preferences:

Higher degrees or certifications (e.g. MS., MBA, Master’s degree in Project Management or PMP)Demonstrated scientific and technical leadership in cross functional environmentKnowledge of the external environment, including VC and biotech landscapeKnowledge of or previous experience with drug development processes and application of project management tools and processes in cross-functional settingsProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project (or related tools) and capable of maintaining appropriate project documentation
