Soccer Coordinator - ComEd Recreational Facility

Job Title:                           Soccer Coordinator – Full-Time / Exempt

Reports To:                       Facilities Manager

Summary:  With passion and dedication to excellence, the Addams Park Soccer Coordinator will build, establish, and promote the facility by applying proven instruction methods that both inspire and guide each and every student regardless of age, experience, or knowledge of soccer. The Soccer Coordinator will be responsible for the management of a team of Soccer Instructors including scheduling, supervising, leading, and directing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Plans and implements course curricula for instruction of sports, games, and competitive athletics.

Manages a team of part-time Soccer Instructors and schedules and supervises employees.

Provides instruction and supervision to patrons in sports, games, and competitive athletics.

Demonstrates proper techniques and skills for recreation and athletics.

Adapts programs to reflect differing levels of participant skill development.

Provides instruction in advanced strategies of team and individual sports, physical fitness, and conditioning.

Provides information on the rules of individual and team sports.

Explains basics of organized activities.

Enforces and promotes safety guidelines for recreation and athletic activities. Resolves conflicts among participants.

Issues and maintains inventory of recreation equipment and supplies. Sets up recreation apparatus and equipment.

Officiates team and individual sports. Promotes sportsmanship and encourages creativity in participants.

Communicates constructively with participants, parents, volunteers and community.

Establishes schedules for programming, tournaments, leagues and competitions. Conducts meetings on competitions and other special events.

Ensures that all sports programs are adhering to local, national, and official governing body standards and requirements and that any applicable laws related to the respective sports are followed.

Keeps up with industry trends and develops new programming.

Develops creative ways to utilize various facilities indoor and outdoor spaces.

Market current and new programs through social media, emails, flyers, etc.

Attend a weekly in-person or phone meeting with the Facility Manager and keep management informed of customer and facility needs.

Participates in community outreach by attending community events such as local farmer’s markets or festivals, through local schools, senior centers, etc.

Maintains active membership and participation with industry associations in related field.

Establishes new streams of revenue through party bookings, new camps, or community events.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Professional Requirements:

Previous teaching experience in a group setting required.

Ability to teach soccer classes.

Self-motivated, with excellent communication and customer service skills.

Punctual, reliable, organized, and responsible.

Keeps management informed of customer and facility needs.

Ensures that safety standards are met, and that department and facility policies are adhered to.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:  The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must possess current Red Cross CPR certification, Certified Instructor (ACE, AFAA) or equivalent. Additional specialty/certifications preferred. Have working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology and training principles. Have working knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies and the incorporation of music, tempo, technique, and rhythm. Ability to be professional and motivate class participants. Ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members.

Other Qualifications:  Ability to work with limited supervision and as a team member.  This position requires the ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
