Job Summary: The Social Development Supervisor is responsible for the operation of assigned residential areas. Is responsible for the supervision of Social Development Specialists /Residential Counselors and the health and safety of students.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Position directly supervises the Social Development Specialists and Residential Counselors – where applicable.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Supervises residential program and ensures that student needs are met in a timely professional manner.
• Demonstrates and abides by the Company Core Values and the operating principles.
• Directs and plans for the Social Development Department’s needs. Manages the activities of the Social Development Specialists to ensure that students need are met.
• Conducts regular staff meetings and employee training sessions.
• Provides monthly and weekly activity reports to the Department Manager.
• Prepares reports, budgets, and objectives for the residential living component.
• Conducts monthly audits of the Residential Student files and prepares reports.
• Ensures that order and discipline are maintained in dormitories, while promoting self- discipline and an awareness of others.
• Insures orderly and clean-living conditions.
• Oversees social skills and student leadership sessions.
• Ensures that Residential programming is comprehensive and broad-based providing activities that motivate and inspire students.
• Attends required staff training sessions.
• Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, emotional trauma, arrest, trouble at home and other traumatic experiences.
• Responsible for insuring that departmental equal employment and affirmative action goals and objectives are met.
• Interviews and selects staff.
• Prepares and conducts performance evaluations.
• Ensures that assigned staff submit student evaluations in a timely manner .
Minimum: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency. Two years’ work-related experience.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Counseling, or related field. Supervisory experience
Knowledge: Ability to effectively communicate with and relate to disadvantaged youths. Must be able to obtain a state driver’s license. Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/FA certification. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to inspire and motivate staff.
