JOB DESCRIPTION

OutKick is looking for a Social Media Associate to join our team! You are a crucial member of the team as you help to produce content for our social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the OutKick site.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Production & Editing:

Produce and edit reels, video formats, and podcast segments/episodes/clips.

Package video assets and edit footage into compelling, visually appealing social media storytelling videos that align with trends and audience preferences.

Add social editing optimizations to enhance video products and improve opportunities for virality.

 

Content Sourcing & Highlighting:

Watch and review podcast footage to identify video-worthy moments from an archive.

Find highlight-worthy clips based on trending sports and cultural narratives, transforming them into polished final edits.

 

Performance Optimization:

Strategize and implement measures to optimize show and video performance across OutKick's platforms.

 

Creative Story Development:

Develop sharp and engaging story angles tailored to OutKick's audience.

 

Collaboration & Coordination:

Coordinate with producers on schedules, project progress, and deadlines to ensure smooth operations.

 

Technical Editing & Enhancements:

Apply graphical elements, color correction, and audio mixing to deliver high-quality content.

 

Social Media Expertise:

Leverage a strong understanding of social media culture and trends on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and X to create content that resonates with the platform's audiences.

 

User-Generated Content & Internet Trends:

Demonstrate a strong understanding of user-generated content and effectively incorporate already-viral content from across the internet to create shareable, engaging content.

Stay updated on internet trends and utilize them to craft content that aligns with audience behavior and enhances shareability.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Extensive knowledge of sports, pop culture, entertainment, and how different genres of content feed into their respective internet subcultures

Exceptional eye for what goes viral online while thriving in a fast deadline-driven timeline

An eye for vertical content and how to work media for mobile devices

Basic knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop

Ability to scope out trending topics and viral stories and package them as consumable social media content to be shared online

Ability to collaborate with video editors and producers if and when Outkick needs to share multimedia pieces on its social media, as well as get gameday content produced in real time as games unfold Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience 

1+ years or strong internship experience in web-based content creations

Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and Photoshop, starter knowledge of After Effects 

Good editorial judgment and extensive knowledge of sports, news and current events, entertainment, politics, and viral content 

Strong writing skills and the ability to self-proof 

Organization skills that allow for multiple projects to be produced simultaneously 

Positive and creative attitude with the ability to hit deadlines while working under pressure 

Ability to work independently, paired with a self-starter attitude 

Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience 

Flexibility to work holidays and weekends according to the needs of Breaking News and sports schedules 

Occasional travel may be required

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $20.00-25.00 per hour for high cost labour markets such as but not limited to New York City and Los Angeles, $16.50-20.75 per hour for all other US locations. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
