CU Denver's University Communications team is looking for a savvy, multimedia storyteller who thrives on sharing authentic voices on social media platforms. The social media producer will excel at amplifying our community voices, while advancing the university's mission, goals, reputation, and identity as a leading academic and research institution in the heart of a global city. They will thrive on finding nuanced, unique ways to connect with our audiences, collaborate with our campus, and create community on our social platforms.
As a member of the Creative Content team within University Communications, the Social Media Producer supports the strategy and execution of the university's social media efforts, while providing general support for the creative content, strategic communications (including emergency communications), events, web, and marketing teams. In this role, the social media producer supports the Executive Director of Editorial and Creative Content in developing and delivering content that aligns with the university's brand. This role will execute on a robust content calendar. They will review analytics and manage social media governance. They will demonstrate a commitment to equity and uphold university values.
The social media producer will be an organized individual who can thrive in a deadline-driven environment. They should have strong project management abilities, as well as excellent communication skills for engaging audiences across platforms in unique ways. They should excel at observing data trends in analytics, monitoring channels, and responding to queries and comments with a customer-service attitude. This position involves weekend and weeknight work, as necessary.
**Social Media Producer**
**What you will do:**
+ Produce, write, edit, and publish daily, channel-specific, multimedia content for the university's social media and communication platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
+ Monitor social media channels daily and respond to issues and concerns.
+ Help develop and implement social media strategies, campaigns, and social media content calendars that build engagement and support CU Denver goals.
+ Analyze and report-out on social media progress using industry-standard analytic tools. Incorporate optimization strategies, identify trends, and adhere to best practices for social media accounts.
+ Assist in the creation of and make updates to social media rules, regulations, contracts, and guidelines as needed.
+ Support the University Communications events team as a communications partner for high-level events such as Convocation, Commencement, employee recognition events, etc.
+ Support the University Communications emergency communications team as needed. This may involve weekend and weeknight work.
**Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)**
+ Bachelor's degree
+ At least one year of professional-level experience in social media, journalism, digital marketing, digital content, communications, or related field.
+ Proven ability to write content for different audiences, formats, and contexts
+ Excellent copyediting and writing skills
Substitution: A bachelor's degree is preferred, or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.
**Preferred Qualifications to possess (Preferred Qualifications)**
+ Bachelor's degree in digital media, journalism, English, communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
+ Hands-on experience using social medial platforms and social/digital media management tools, i.e., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or related tools.
+ Experience in photography and videography storyboarding, scripting, and location scouting for content creation.
+ Experience with content management systems, i.e., Sitefinity, Drupal, WordPress, Campus Bird, Brandfolder (or similar digital asset management systems).
+ Experience developing story or creative concepts from the idea stage to posts.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
+ Understands the role and value of social media and communications
+ Proficiency in AP style.
+ Excellent writing, copy editing, and proofreading skills.
+ Keen understanding of creative content trends and best practices.
+ Excellent social media listening skills and judgement to identify and monitor crisis situations and/or university reputational issues; ability to apply conflict resolution principles to mitigate.
+ Able to manage a diverse workload under deadline pressure.
+ Capable of measuring the impact of social media and communication activities using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
+ Working knowledge of principles of SEO including keyword research and Google Analytics.
+ Customer-service driven with ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional team.
+ Efficient project management skills
+ Experience using fact-checking methods.
+ Keen understanding of creative content trends and best practices.
+ Strong problem-solving abilities
**Conditions of Employment**
+ Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required.
+ This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, with a minimum of 3 days a week in the office.

**Compensation and Benefits**
The salary range ( _or hiring range_ ) for this position has been established at $57,744 - $66,701.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range ( _or hiring range_ ) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
