This vacancy is for the Orleans Child Welfare IV-E Office.
The incumbent in this position will supervise a unit of Social Services Analyst 1 and 2's who receive and reviews applications for Title IVE-E, Title XIX Medicaid, Title IV-A, Champ, LACHIP, State Funded Medicaid and Parental contributions.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Six years of experience in social services; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of experience in social services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in social services; OR
An advanced degree in a social sciences field plus two years of experience in social services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
Job Concepts
Function of Work:
To provide supervision to social services staff in the assessment, evaluation, and provision of social services programs administered by the Office of Family Support to clients/ applicants/consumers/customers. These programs include Support Enforcement, Disability Determinations, Head Start, Food Stamps, Family Independence Temporary Assistance (FITAP), FIND Work, Child Care Assistance and Electronic Benefits Transfer.
OR
To provide supervision to social services staff in determining appropriate Federal funding sources to be used in offsetting State General Funds for funding child care costs administered by the Office of Community Services.
Level of Work:
Supervisor.
Supervision Received:
Broad direction from a higher-level supervisor or Administrative Officer.
Supervision Exercised:
Direct-line over Social Services Analysts, paraprofessionals, and clerical staff.
Location of Work:
Predominately used by the Department of Social Services, Office of Family Support and Office of Community Services.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from Social Services Analyst 3 by the presence of direct supervisory responsibility.
Examples of Work
Supervises Social Services Analysts in a specified unit or geographical area through training, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating work performance. Responsibility may extend to multiple parishes.
Keeps abreast of all aspects of assigned program and its relatedness to other agency programs and community resources, both public and private. Responsible for maintenance of acceptable standards for assigned program.
Assumes lead responsibility for the conciliation procedure to resolve disputes related to an individuals participation in their assigned program. Interviews complainants and investigates for resolution.
Prepares required reports relative to assigned unit activities. Reviews and analyzes records for quality assurance. Compiles data and statistical information for written reports.
Orients staff in all areas of staff development functions. Conducts individual and group conferences with staff to increase their skill and efficiency.
Maintains working relationships with local, state, and federal agencies both in the public and private sector.
Participates in the recruitment, appointment, promotion, discipline, and dismissal of staff in accordance with Department and Civil Service Rules.
