Job Description:
The Social Work Coordinator will participate in an Advanced Field Placement training program facilitated by the BWell Response Team and supervised by the BWell Associate Director for Response Services. The position will center around providing advocacy-based counseling to students through the Department of BWell Health Promotion, part of Brown University Health & Wellness. The coordinator will integrate academic knowledge with clinical social work practice in a supervised setting to provide advocacy-based counseling services to Brown students impacted by sexual harm and/or higher risk alcohol and other drug use. The coordinator will receive clinical supervision, attend team meetings and community learning seminars, and will have exposure and access to consultation from other staff with expertise in specific areas of interest. All learning will be based on a model that identifies the interplay of power, privilege and oppression and seeks to address the roots of harm and high-risk behaviors from an anti-racist, restorative, harm-reduction approach. The coordinator will work with a diverse and multidisciplinary team of colleagues in providing these services and collaborate across many departments. There are many communities whose voices have been historically left out of this work and who are most minoritized, targeted, and impacted by harm, e.g. people with disabilities, people of color (POC), native people, and people who identify as LGBTQIA+. Applicants from these communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Approximately 24-30 hours/week depending on school-based requirements. On-call and evening/weekend hours required.
