The Social Work program, which is CSWE-accredited, teaches generalist practice with an emphasis on rural settings and is one of four disciplines within SPSJPS: Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology and Social Work.
SPSJPS seeks an experienced, passionate practitioner and scholar who has a strong interest in social justice issues and in collaborating across multiple disciplines/communities. Faculty responsibilities will include teaching core courses in the BSW program, advisement of students and related social work program service responsibilities. Responsibilities may include support for the development of a proposed online DSW program and assistance in field education for social work students. Required Qualifications MSW from a CSWE-accredited institution. PhD or doctorate in social work or related field by August 2025. Two years minimum of post-MSW direct practice experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect, empathy, and cultural humility. Excellent scholarly potential including a research and publication agenda. Evidence of effective teaching or other preparation for teaching. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching undergraduates. Ability to teach human behavior in the social environment and research methods at the undergraduate level. Experience in online education is desirable. Experience in child welfare is desirable.
