Essential functions (job duties):
The Perinatal and Infant Mental Health (PIMH) Support Worker will have mental health training and will work within the Early Childhood Support Clinic (ECSC), a co-located, mental health clinic located at Wayne Pediatrics, a community-based, outpatient clinic that serves pediatric patients beginning at birth. The PIMH support worker will provide trauma-informed support services including screening, assessment, and early intervention services to pregnant people and young children birth to five years of age and their families.
Provide screenings to infants, toddlers, young children (birth to five years) and their parents and caregivers.
Provide developmental guidance, infant mental health, and perinatal mental health support services to families of infants, toddlers, and young children via in-person, phone, email, and video contacts with families. Complete all necessary required paperwork and patient documentation.
Collaborate with medical staff to deliver integrated health and mental health services to pediatric patients and their families.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education Master's degree
Graduation from an accredited college or university in Social Work or related discipline.
Experience Entry level (less than a year of job-related experience)
Experience working with families providing social service or related interventions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Technical Knowledge: Possesses knowledge of infant and perinatal mental health, case management, and barriers faced by local Detroit area families experiencing poverty and other socioeconomic inequities.
Interpersonal Skills: Able to work in a fast-paced medical clinic. Able to provide sensitive, compassionate, and trauma-informed care to children and families facing mental health challenges. Able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events. Ability to build cooperative, effective relationships and facilitate communication and understanding among professionals.
Communication skills: Must possess effective, professional written and verbal skills, and can effectively communicate information to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Customer Service Skills: Ability to respond promptly to customer requests for assistance and service.
Computer Skills: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Planning/Organizing Skills: Ability to prioritize and plan work activities and adapt to changing conditions.
