**Overview** **SOCIAL WORKER (CLINICAL) - (GS-0185-12) - Naval Medical Center, San Diego, CA** Downtown San Diego is located on San Diego Bay. Balboa Park encompasses several mesas and canyons to the northeast, surrounded by older, dense urban communities including Hillcrest and North Park. To the east and southeast lie City Heights, the College Area, and Southeast San Diego. To the north lies Mission Valley and Interstate 8. For more information, please visit the following link: https://www.usajobs.gov/Help/working-in-government/benefits/ **Responsibilities** + Work with highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses to include factors such as, history of trauma, co-occurring conditions and suicide. + Assist clients in identifying and managing personal, psychological and interactive problems, and in achieving effective personal, occupational, marital, and family development and adjustments. + Provide comprehensive social work services in the form of casework and case management by consulting on or developing discharge plans for complicated cases, psychosocial assessments and mental status examinations on behalf of beneficiaries. + Analyze information collected to identify symptoms, determine psychiatric diagnosis, develop treatment plan and/or determine advisability of counseling or referral to other specialists or institutions. + **Conditions of Employment:** + Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. + This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
