SOCIAL WORKER (FAMILY ADVOCACY) - DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY

Responsibilities Designs, develops, coordinates, and implements the secondary prevention component of FAP. Responsible for case management activities occurring from initial referral and counseling, through case closure, or transfer. Provides professional advisory services and training to other health care professionals, installation personnel, and community agencies concerning secondary prevention programs; and serves as community liaison with military and civilian agencies. Sophisticated understanding of behavioral risk management and ability to engage appropriate protections as needed when risk of harm to the patient or others is present Knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistic Manual of Mental Disorders to evaluate psychiatric disorders and apply professional diagnostic skills Ability to provide guidance and consultation services to medical professionals and military leaders, work well with others in a team approach, and facilitate referrals to community or state-based human service agencies as needed, e.g., to Protective Services or financial aid organizations Education INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: A master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
