Job Overview:

The Rutgers Cancer Institute/Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health is hiring a licensed social worker to provide direct service to pediatric patients with cancer or blood disorders. This role will join a multidisciplinary psychosocial support team within the pediatric hematology/oncology program.

Qualifications:

Required:

Masters in Social Work from an accredited institutionLicensure by the NJ State Board of Social Work ExaminersLicensed Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social WorkerPediatric experience

Preferred:

LCSWMedical or Oncology experience preferredSpanish speaking preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

This is a full-time position (40 hours/week).

Essential Functions:

Social workers collaborate closely with medical staff and other members of the psychosocial team to address the comprehensive needs of both the patient and their family. Patients are followed in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Social workers have access to a variety of academic opportunities, including involvement in research and teaching medical studentsParticipating in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate careCoordinating family meetings with the multidisciplinary teamCoordinating and facilitating school reintegration and servicesStaying informed about community resourcesProviding developmentally appropriate, evidence-based counseling interventions to children and familiesConducting psychosocial assessmentsMaintaining a professional demeanor at all times with staff and families
