JOB SUMMARY
Provide outpatient mental health services as families adjust to medical challenges, make decisions, manage the transition to parenthood, mourn idealized pregnancies, manage post-partum depression and cope with perinatal loss. Coordinate and lead postpartum support group meetings. Conduct psycho- social and social risk assessments on prenatal and postpartum women. Make recommendations for pre and postnatal care on patients with mental health concerns. Work collaboratively with the inpatient social services staff, Maternity Follow-up nurses and lactation consultants in the referral planning process. Assist patient and their family and/or support systems with coping skills as it relates to postpartum and newborn care and complications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work.
Experience: Minimum of two years’ community or acute care mental health experience required. Experience working with pregnant and postpartum patients and newborns preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of maternal mental health disorders, and mandatory reporting requirements, Ability to evaluate patients with psychiatric disorders and develop safe post-discharge plans. Has the ability to conduct a variety of social work assessments and interventions with adult, newborns and families. Has the ability to search the internet for community resources. Works well with peers and collaboratively in a team effort. Has the ability to lead family meetings and assist coworkers in developing safe post-discharge outcomes. Computer literate and has the ability to document concisely and accurately in the medical record. Attention to detail. Is highly motivated and has the ability to motivate others. Learns quickly when facing new problem and open to change.
License/Certifications: Current American Heart Association BLS card. Licensed to practice in the State of California (Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Equipment: General office equipment: computer, printer, telephone, fax/copier/scanner.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform essential physical job requirements.
PAY RANGE
$37.42 - $56.12
The posted pay range reflects the lowest to highest pay that was available for this position at the time of posting and may be subject to change. Salary offers are determined by candidate’s relevant experience and skills. For per diem positions, a standard rate is used based on market data and not the candidate’s individual experience.
