Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital in Rhinelander, WI is seeking a SOCIAL WORKER - MSW to join our BEHAVIORAL HEALTH team!Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, it assists patients and families in coping with problems resulting from severe or long-term illness, and with difficulties in recovery and rehabilitation. Works with patients and families to obtain psychosocial history, assists patients in resolving environmental difficulties interfering with attainment of maximum benefits from medical care, and conducts routine discharge planning. Directs patients to designated community agencies or resources, as necessary. The Social Worker is a core interdisciplinary team member who, as a professional social worker, provides necessary social work services to patients/families under the direction of a physician.
HOURS: Full-time or .9 FTE, 72 hours every pay period. Day shift.
Experience/Qualifications
Knowledge of social work theories, therapies and techniques of casework processes, and principles of public welfare at a level normally acquired through completion of a master’s degree in social work from a social work curriculum accredited school or approved by the Council on Social Work Education.Coursework in Medical Social Work desired.An academic concentration regarding psychosocial aspects of illness.Clinical experience appropriate to counseling and casework needs of the terminally ill and experience working on multidisciplinary teams necessary to enhance and develop skills. Previous professional experience working with hospice, experience in medical and home settings, and experience in supervision beneficial. Possesses Wisconsin Certified Social Worker licensure or provisional license. One-year medical social work experience necessary to gain full knowledge of federal, state and local regulations related to discharge planning and knowledge of health and welfare resources and facilities.MSW Required.Demonstrates interpersonal skills to obtain information from patients and families, provide counseling to same, and interact effectively with patients, families and hospital personnel. Displays analytical skills to assess patients’ needs, develop associated discharge planning and provide sound advice and guidance. Displays ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when interviewing patients, providing therapy, preparing discharge plans and the like.
