Sheppard Pratt School in Cumberland is a nonpublic special education day school providing year-round educational, vocational, and daily living services to students grades K-12 with emotional disabilities and autism. We help students meet their educational goals and prepare them for life beyond the classroom with small class sizes, 12 months of instruction, and a comprehensive curriculum.
What to expect.
You will play a crucial role in providing clinical mental health support to students with social-emotional disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and related diagnoses. You will support students and their families in overcoming challenges, helping them access educational programs and achieve their highest level of functioning.
Specific responsibilities include:
Provide individual, family, and group counseling, and develop treatment plans, including IEPs, for an assigned caseload. Work closely with families, school systems, and external providers to ensure holistic support and access to resources. Conduct assessments, including suicide and violence risk screenings, and respond to emergencies as needed. Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment strategies that align with IEP goals and address student needs. Assist students in navigating transitions within the educational setting and preparing for life beyond school through vocational and life skills training. Maintain clinical records, including progress notes, initial assessments, and required IEP reports, in line with Sheppard Pratt and regulatory standards.What you’ll get from us.

Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW) Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical (LCSW-C)Per MSDE requirements, a social worker filling this position must also provide verification of having completed 3 semester hours or State-approved CPD credits in special education and possess a MSDE Certification as a School Social Worker.
