Required License/Registration/Certification Certified Social Worker (CSW) Physical Requirements The physical requirements for this position include regularly sitting, standing, walking, with some pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects weighing up to 10lbs. Shift Monday – Friday, Day Shift; primarily 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (40 hrs/wk); other hours/schedule as needed. Job Summary This position is located off-campus in Lexington, KY at UKHC Turfland.
The Social Worker Senior, operating under licensed supervision, provides counseling and resource coordination services as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
This role involves conducting psychosocial assessments to evaluate patient and family needs, offering direct counseling, and educating individuals about available resources and community services. Serving as a liaison with state and federal agencies, the Social Worker Senior plays a key role in advocating for vulnerable populations, including children experiencing abuse or neglect, and providing crisis intervention, such as suicide counseling. The position upholds all relevant state, federal, and institutional guidelines to ensure the highest standards of care for patients’ mental, physical, and emotional well-being.
In addition to counseling, the Social Worker Senior oversees the coordination of resources and case management under supervision. Responsibilities include securing necessary resources, managing donated funds, and distributing financial assistance based on assessed needs to ensure continuity of care. They document interactions, care plans, and significant incidents in compliance with policies and procedures while collaborating with agencies to facilitate access to appropriate support. The role also involves educating clinical staff on relevant policies and contributing to the ongoing review and improvement of care procedures, ensuring patients receive comprehensive support tailored to their needs. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Good communication skills, organizational skills, and excellent problem solving skills; experience with windows PC and Microsoft Office software; ability to learn multiple electronic health record systems.
