**Job Description**
The SOF Communication Systems Technician will provide C5ISR testing and technical support for the Naval Air Warfare Center-Aircraft Division (NAWC-AD) Special Communications Mission Solutions (SCMS) Radio Integration System (RIS) program. The candidate will perform standardized assignments and follow standard work methods.
The technician will perform such typical duties as:
a. Following specific instructions, assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts, servicing or repairing simple instruments or equipment.
b. Conducting a variety of tests using established methods, preparing test specimens, adjusting and operating equipment, recording test data, and pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors
c. Extracting engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sources, processing the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry, and presenting the data in prescribed form.
On a day-to-day basis, the Technician will perform Stage II bench level testing of individual components used to assemble transit case-based communications systems for the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). These components include power supplies, amplifiers, antennas, laptops, speakers, Ethernet switches and various other RF and network interfacing equipment. The Technician will also document test performance, assist in creating progress reports, assist with inventory and system pack out prior to delivery to the customer.
The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $25.72/hr.
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
High school diploma or equivalent
1 - 2 years of related work experience (i.e. testing, troubleshooting, measurement, data collection, calibration and/or repair of electronic or computer equipment).
Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds and performing material movement, storage, and handling tasks
**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**
Basic radio frequency knowledge
Basic understanding of routing and switching
Experience configuring CISCO network devices
Ability to travel CONUS/OCONUS
**Pay Information**
This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
