**Introduction**
IBM CIO Technology Platform Transformation
The IBM CIO Technology Platform Transformation team plays a crucial role in modernizing and optimizing IBM's technology infrastructure and platforms. The team aims to power AI-enabled experiences through AI-first technology platforms that enable and streamline existing processes, enhance security, and improve user experience by leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cloud computing.
Some of the key responsibilities of this group include:
1. Driving the adoption of emerging technologies to optimize and automate various business functions, keeping an AI-first approach with a digital experience.
2. Enable best in class IT with enhanced cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive information and maintain regulatory compliance.
3. Modernizing legacy systems and integrating disparate applications to improve interoperability and reduce technical debt.
4. Collaborating with other departments and teams to align technology efforts with broader corporate objectives.
5. Providing guidance and expertise on technology trends, best practices, and standards.
This team comprises professionals with diverse backgrounds in software engineering, data science, network architecture, and security. By fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, the team strives to achieve its mission of making IBM the most productive company in the world.
**Your role and responsibilities**
As an Architect you are a crucial member of our integration technology team, solving complex and unique business challenges with forward-looking architectures in a collaborative
Agile environment. You have deep understanding of the core systems that make up the technology landscape and work closely with development teams and enterprise architects to
oversee system designs, plan system evolution over time, assess and introduce new technologies and patterns, and ensure day-to-day development decisions are in line with the
future direction.
As a Technical Architect, you are responsible to:
• Provide technical leadership to software engineers to ensure intended technical
direction and decision outcomes.
• Develop and evangelizing best practices in line with current trends and technologies,
with consideration for supportability by the team, longevity, application security, and
existing policies and procedures.
• Proactively monitoring project activities to ensure that all deliverables are provided on
time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
• Collaborate to identify requirements for environments and tools needed to support the
timely migration and operation of application solutions.
• Continuously develop depth of knowledge and breadth of experience across existing
and new technologies through training and prototyping, as well as exploring new areas
of interest.
• Create designs and implementation plans that consider delivery of core features quickly
while adding full feature sets and robust architectures over time.
• Take an active role in the reconciliation of team decisions around technology choices,
code structure, and best practices across supported systems.
• Provide clear feedback to management on technical direction of active projects.
• Embrace change and leading by example as applications mature, organizational
decisions are made, and external environments change.
• Provide release and production support for applications in the cloud across your area of
responsibility.
**Required technical and professional expertise**
• Review and analyze requirements, recommend and develop solution proposals to meet requirements and ensuring the alignment with enterprise-wide architecture strategy.
• Participating in strategic technology initiatives to build and maintain key elements of the enterprise architecture strategy.
• Conduct technical evaluation of existing solutions, platforms, and new technologies and propose areas of improvements
• Perform digital architecture governance function by conducting formal reviews of the project artefacts to ensure alignment with the overall digital architecture vision.
• Develop policies and standards for solution architecture.
• Develop and maintain digital platform architecture blueprints.
• Knowledge in solutions development, enterprise architecture, application development, middleware, cloud development and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
• Keep up to-date with the latest digital technology trends, performing POCs and acting as a Coach for the adoption of the latest digital technologies.
• Display creativity in enhancing strategies, redesign processes, and updating documentation and knowledge bases.
• Communicate and present Digital architecture proposals to peers and senior management.
• Develop necessary documentation as per established standards.
• Develop business architecture and capability maps.
• Developing project timelines, roadmap and cost estimates.
• Knowledge of Python, SQL, AI Model, Automation, Docker, Cloud Environment
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related business degree. Master’s degree is preferred.
• Digital Solution Architecture or any other relevant Architecture certification desired.
• Demonstrate solid understanding of the latest digital technologies including Artificial Intelligence, analytics, cloud computing, Integration, DB technologies (relational, timeseries) etc.
• Experience in designing and deploying solutions in cloud-native enterprise applications in public, private and hybrid cloud models (OpenShift, AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Bring an entrepreneurship and product mindset to provide the technical leadership in the development of technical designs, functional specification and relevant documentation as per the architect standards.
• Deep understanding of the microservices, headless and event driven and Integration architecture.
• Understands the impacts of regulations, laws and company policies, standards and procedures to the assigned role.
• Ability to lead the development of architecture runways required across projects within a domain and provides day-to-day technical leadership/ guidance to the delivery team.
• Excellent communications and presentation skills
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
