Job Description
We are seeking 2 Software Engineers to join a key Cyber engineering team focused on building new security architectures across large Naval Submarine subsystems. This technology creates a common, open-architecture system-of-systems electronic design aboard submarines to promote interoperability during joint operations with integrated fighting forces. In layman's terms, this system is the central nervous system of a submarine that allows all other subsystems to connect together. These engineers will use their expertise to write secure code for communications coming in and out of Kubernetes to a private cloud for edge communication. The main goal of this role is to write defense code to secure communications as this system controls all the subsystems in a submarine.
ResponsibilitiesWrite defensive code to secure edge communication components of a critical submarine system.Develop secure code for communications interacting with Kubernetes and a private cloud.Ensure the interoperability of various submarine subsystems during joint operations.Collaborate with a team of engineers, including industry experts, to secure submarine systems.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.3-8 years of software development experience in C or C++ in a Linux/Unix environment.Experience with network packet captures.Knowledge and experience with Linux systems.Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash.Understanding of basic networking switch/router/firewall/IDS concepts.Eligibility for Secret Clearance (Interim to start).Additional Skills & QualificationsCloud experience with Kubernetes and containers.Experience following Secure Coding Practices (RMF, STIG) and/or developing Cyber Security Solutions.Knowledge of PKI.Experience with large system development (10+ servers or higher).Experience researching cybersecurity capabilities, performing trade studies, and providing expertise to peers and leadership.Work Environment
This role offers a hybrid work environment, allowing you to work from home during development stages and in the lab during integration and test phases of the project. The work schedule consists of 4-day weeks with 10-hour days, providing flexibility. The current team consists of 3 people, with plans to add 2 more members this year, one now and one in April.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
