Software Developer

About this role:

DUAL North America is one of the leading insurance underwriters in the United States. We are currently looking for a Software Engineer to create and maintain in-house software and systems. Responsibilities include gathering user requirements, defining system functionality and writing code in an Agile environment. Our ideal candidates are familiar with the software development life cycle (SDLC) from preliminary system analysis to tests and deployment. The role of the Software Engineer is to build high-quality, innovative, and fully performing software that complies with coding standards and application level architectural design patterns. Location: Hybrid or Remote

Salary Range: $110,000.00-$120,000.00

Essential Functions:  

Develop and implement new software programs, ensuring they meet project requirements and standards.

Maintain and improve the performance of existing software, addressing any issues and bugs as they arise.

Work with other developers to design algorithms and create flowcharts that guide the development process.

Produce clean, efficient, and maintainable code based on provided specifications.

Integrate software components and third-party programs, ensuring they work seamlessly within the existing system.

Verify and deploy programs and systems, ensuring smooth operation and minimal disruption.

Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing software to enhance functionality and user experience.

Gather and evaluate user feedback to identify areas for improvement and to inform future development.

Recommend and execute software improvements to enhance performance, scalability, and user satisfaction.

Create and maintain technical documentation for reference and reporting purposes, ensuring clarity and accuracy.

Competency (knowledge, skills, abilities):

3+ years of experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineer or similar roleFamiliarity with Agile development methodologies and experience working within an Agile team.Solid understanding of software design and development in a test-driven environment.Proficiency in coding languages, particularly C#.Experience with native cloud-based development, particularly in Azure or AWS environments, including deploying, managing, and scaling applications.Demonstrated knowledge of front-end web technologies, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and AngularExperience with SQL, including database design and query development.Familiarity with source control systems (Git preferred)Ability to learn new languages and technologies.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve issues quickly.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, contributing to collective project success.Understanding of projects from the perspective of both client and the business, ensuring alignment with overall goals.Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and project requirements.Strong attention to detail, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
