Software Developer - Bioinformatics and Modeling Applications Developer

Our Data Science and Learning (DSL) division is looking for a software developer capable of developing and improving apps in the KBase environment, as well as developing new bioinformatics, computational biology, and AI workflows to run in Jupyter Notebook-based environments.
Our mission is to develop, improve, and maintain open-source applications for comprehensive biological data analysis and mechanistic modeling within the DOE Systems Biology Knowledgebase platform, as well as in other platforms and frameworks.
KBase users and collaborating scientists will submit large-scale multi-omics data to our team and to KBase, and we must develop new algorithms and tools to obtain biological insights from the data and you will be expected to interface with project scientists to obtain feedback to improve tool usability and utility.

**Position Requirements**
Required skills and qualifications:
+ RD1: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Biology or Computer Science
+ Comprehensive skill programming in Python and Jupyter Notebooks
+ Extensive experience with bioinformatics workflows, particularly sequence alignment and analysis
+ Effective oral and written communication skills
+ Ability to work independently and collaborate well with others
+ Ability to model Argonne's core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity and teamwork.
Desired skills and qualifications:
+ Masters degree in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology
+ Experience with metabolic modeling workflows
+ Experience with KBase

The expected hiring range for this position is $74,799.00 - $118,785.42.
