This is an internship position for a student to support R&D projects related to contingency generation, screening and ranking software. Applicant should have good software development skills (Python is necessary) and, ideally, experience with good software development practices such as version control, naming conventions, adhering to style-guides, and code review. Appreciated extra skillsets would include familiarity with node-breaker modeling, converting to bus-branch modeling and complex networks and graphs.
This position will require the identified individual to work onsite at the EPRI Knoxville office.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Performing software code development, including, but not limited to, writing source code, developing databases, and creating user interfaces.
Developing solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
Qualifications:
To be considered you MUST be enrolled in an accredited university pursing a degree. Continued education beyond the summer semester is REQUIRED for student employment eligibility
3rd or 4th year undergraduate student in computer science or related major required
Ideal Candidate:
Strong programming skills (Python, JavaScript/HTML is required. C will be considered a plus)
Strong technical writing skills.
Familiarity with complex networks and graphs will be considered a plus.
ChatGPT/engineering prompt experience a plus
Development Libraries/Tools:
Python scientific computing suite of packages: numpy, scipy, pandas, networkx, igraph
Python packages for creating graphical user interface: tkinter
Python packages for creating visualizations: matplotlib, plotly, bokeh, seaborn
Version control: git (creating issues, performing pull requests)
The hourly rate range for Student positions are:
Undergraduate: $16-29 per hourMasters: $25-31 per hourPh.D: $27-34 per hourThese ranges are an estimate, and the actual hourly rate may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The hourly rate may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

For Student positions which require one to relocate to an EPRI office. Relocation assistance is not provided and the student will be responsible for covering all relocation costs/expenses.
