The CloudWatch Logs team builds and manages some of the largest logging in the world. CloudWatch Logs allows AWS users to ingest their application and AWS logs in a highly scalable, durable, and reliable service for enterprise scale; find and analyze the right log to solve operational problems; generate metrics and alarms from their log events; or send log to other downstream .
On the Logs team you’ll get to build critical monitoring services that impact every single AWS customer, both internally and externally – there’s not many team’s that can say that!
This is a full-stack development position, leaning towards back-end work.
Work/Life Balance
Our team puts a value on work-life balance. Most days, our entire team is co-located in the Vancouver office, but we’re also flexible when people occasionally need to work from home. We generally keep core in-office hours from 10am to 4pm. About half of us come in earlier and the other half of us stay later.
On-Call Responsibility
This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don’t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice.

SysDE IIs are an active reviewer of the team’s technology solutions and operations. They are able to train new teammates, helping them understand the team’s customers, systems, and processes. They recognize discordant views and take part in a constructive dialogue to resolve them. They participate in hiring and developing others, and effectively mentor others on the team or on teams within your organization.
A day in the life

Automations: We create automated solutions that can be leveraged by CWLXR teams. We focus on infrastructure projects that can be automated.
Service partners: We obsess over the service teams infrastructure needs, giving time back to the service teams to focus on the business logic that serves our internal and external customers.
Scalable and easy to operate: Our solutions are simple to maintain regardless of size. We provide an infrastructure platform to service teams that is as efficient and performant across thousands or tens of hosts.
Successful when the wider org is more productive: We use data and metrics to prioritize our efforts and demonstrate our improvements with metrics.
