Software Development Engineer, Intelligent Cloud Control
Description Amazon Intelligent Cloud Control (ICC) ensures the reliability and operational health of retail systems serving hundreds of millions of customers in over 20 marketplaces across the globe. We build sophisticated tools and automation to detect, respond to, and prevent technical incidents across a vast technology landscape, ensuring that critical services remain available 24/7/365. ICC engineers tackle unique challenges at massive scale, creating innovative solutions that define industry standards for operational excellence and automated incident response. We are looking for Software Development Engineers (SDE) to join our Dublin-based team in building products that ingest and process data at Amazon-scale, helping our builders ensure a seamless customer experience across Amazon's many backend and frontend services. Your work will directly contribute to keeping our systems healthy, and our customers happy. If you get a kick out of building real-time systems that process data at a scale of petabytes-per-day, you'll enjoy working with our central team and delighting our customers. Key job responsibilities - Design large-scale data processing systems, and bar-raise your designs with our supportive engineering community - Build software to the highest standards that is thoroughly tested - Safely deploy tools to production environments - Be responsive in debugging and resolving issues that affect our internal customers - Contribute directly to lowering mean-time-to-resolution (MTTR) of issues affecting our external customers - Support and mentor your team-mates, while learning from them through Amazon's supportive culture and mentorship opportunities A day in the life You will design, build and deploy services that process petabytes of data every day. The highest standards in code and operational excellence are key to ensuring stability for our thousands of internal customers and millions of external ones. As part of a central org, your work will be highly visible across Amazon, and has a direct impact on lowering the mean-time-to-resolution (MTTR) of customer-facing issues. Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or equivalent - Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design - Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems Preferred Qualifications - Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations - Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers - Experience using or building tools in the Observability space, such as log analysis, tracing, or monitoring Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
