We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to contribute to the development of our globe-spanning port management information system. This role offers the opportunity to work with a talented team, drive technical innovation, and make a significant impact in the maritime industry.
This is a full-time position based in Vancouver, BC, at 353 Water Street. General start time is 8:00 AM-8:30 AM, 1-hour lunch, 8-hour days, Monday to Friday, and Thursday is remote.
Responsibilities:
Design and develop software solutions for port management.
Aid in the design of software architecture centered around microservices, developing deployment, containerized, and coding strategies that will scale and adapt to business needs both on the cloud and on-prem.
Research emerging technologies, industry trends, and methodologies, make proposals of benefits and costs to decision-makers, and watch as theory becomes practice.
Collaborate with global cross-functional teams through SCRUM to design and implement agile solutions for complex maritime challenges.
Mentor developers, sharing your knowledge and ensuring that future generations of developers will practice and propagate this knowledge.
Required qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related field or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in software development, with a preference on C#, SQL, and TypeScript.
Language-specific experience is not a must, more emphasis is placed on overall skill in programming and the ability to learn a new language.
Knowledge of frameworks such as LINQ, .NET, and Angular are a plus.
Competence with Git.
The ability to communicate abstract concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience in the maritime industry, particularly in port operations or maritime logistics, would be highly beneficial.
Knowledge of supply chain and logistical industry practices is also advantageous.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with designing and configuring solutions for both on-premises and Azure cloud deployments, including infrastructure setup, networking configurations, security protocols, and deployment strategies would be an asset.

For applicants that reside in BC, the annual salary wage range is $80,000 CAD - $100,000 CAD.
The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education, individual skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration of internal equity.
