Software Development Engineer II, Amazon Monitoring and Observability
Description As a Software Engineer on the team you will own significant portions of the product and will have influence on our strategy by helping define the next wave of product features and system architecture. There will be opportunities for learning and growth on the team, there will be access to Sr Engineers and PEs, and SDEs have the opportunity to mentor and coach junior engineers on the team. On a typical day, our software engineers might deep dive to root cause a customer issue, release the latest new feature, consult with the top engineers at Amazon, or discuss radical new approaches to building and operating at AWS. This is a unique opportunity to participate in building a new service to a successful launch, if you are not already one. In this role, you will be positioning as a thought leader in related projects by collaborating and influencing the community and contributing to projects. Key job responsibilities As part of the Topology team, you will help build the source of truth data store to help represent services and resources across all of AWS used by both external and internal customers powering GenAI, triage, diagnostics, and troubleshooting usecases. This will span three pillars: (1) Generic run-time topology data store to enable the following use-cases: All-way lookups by key attributes of one entity Hosted-in relationships Application membership Enumerations with filters (probably start with full scan) (2) Pulse Generic Runtime Topology APIs APIs to integrate partner teams across AWS enabling general and GenAI usecases (3) Pulse Generic Runtime Topology Ingestion Path Integration with external data sources to augment our topology relationship data stores Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience programming with at least one software programming language Preferred Qualifications - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
