Job Description

As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you will work within a Scrum team of five co-located developers and two offshore QA engineers, contributing to the testing processes across acceptance, deployment, and performance testing. Your role will involve building and troubleshooting selected functional and non-functional requirements for software applications and services while ensuring that Agile and Scrum principles are followed. By actively participating in team meetings such as stand-ups, backlog refinement, and acceptance criteria refinement, you will play a key role in incremental application testing.

Bringing a Quality Assurance perspective to requirements, you will ensure that both functional and non-functional acceptance criteria are met, paying particular attention to edge cases, performance, and basic security aspects. You will support continuous delivery by maintaining high-quality test automation for ComLIMS-Quotation, making sure automated tests are systematically executed within the CI/CD pipeline during acceptance and deployment phases. Adhering to the established test strategy and test plans, you will assess their effectiveness and suggest improvements when necessary.

Collaboration will be an essential part of your daily work as you engage with developers, QA engineers, architects, development managers, the Product Owner, and business analysts to achieve comprehensive test coverage. Your strong communication skills, team spirit, and collaborative mindset will help you act as a key bridge between the business team, QA engineers, and developers, fostering effective communication and teamwork.

Beyond your testing responsibilities, you will provide regular updates to the Team Manager, ensuring transparency in your progress. You will rapidly familiarize yourself with Eurofins EurIS systems, beginning with ComLIMS-Quotation, understanding its core concepts, models, and team workflows. As you deepen this knowledge, you will focus on the most critical aspects of your assigned responsibilities. Your ability to build strong relationships with both IT and non-IT stakeholders will further support effective collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong background in software testing, supported by a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. With more than five years of experience in software testing, you should be comfortable working with both automated and manual testing approaches. Your understanding of various types of testing, including acceptance, sanity, and exploratory testing, will help you ensure high-quality application delivery. Your ability to analyze software from both functional and technical perspectives will allow you to refine acceptance criteria while considering boundary and edge cases.

Your familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban, combined with knowledge of DevOps practices, will help you seamlessly integrate testing into the development lifecycle. You should have experience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) tools such as Reqnroll, SpecFlow, JBehave, or Cucumber.js, using the given/when/then format for test case writing. Strong programming skills in object-oriented languages like Java or C# are required, along with experience in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Shell, or Bash for task automation and test script creation.

A solid understanding of web service testing (REST APIs) and enterprise service bus (ESB) patterns such as message queues is necessary, along with experience in test automation. Familiarity with UI automation testing using Selenium or JavaScript-based frameworks like Webdriver.io will be an advantage. Your ability to debug code, troubleshoot issues across the application stack, and collaborate with developers to identify root causes of defects and performance issues will be key to your success in this role.

Excellent communication skills are required to effectively collaborate with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders. Your ability to work across distributed teams in multiple locations will be essential. Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required, and a good conversational level in Vietnamese will be beneficial for local communication.

Additional experience in testing backend systems developed with a Domain-Driven Design (DDD) approach would be valuable. Familiarity with version control systems like Git and CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps Pipelines or Jenkins will further enhance your ability to contribute to the development process. Experience in web frontend automation using JavaScript or TypeScript, as well as performance testing tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, or Gatling, will be considered an asset. A working knowledge of relational databases and SQL, along with the ability to write queries for testing purposes, will be helpful.

Your ability to share knowledge within the team, mentor colleagues, and contribute to best practices in software testing will be highly valued. Finally, conversational proficiency in Mandarin or French would be an advantage in a multilingual work environment.
