Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) - Tools and Reporting

Your Moneris Career - The Opportunity

You will focus on developing, enhancing and maintaining testing tools, quality gates, and reporting systems to support the development teams. You will partner with development teams to ensure that quality is integrated into every step of the development process. Your work will involve developing, managing and automating testing tools, creating quality reports, and integrating quality gates into CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless testing across the organization.

Location: You will be based in our Toronto office and will work in a hybrid model.

Reporting Relationship: You will report to the Senior Manager, Quality Assurance.

Your Moneris Career - What you'll do

Manage a suite of testing tools (including performance/load testing tools) to support automated testing across multiple teams.

Manage and improve the test toolchain to ensure scalability for development teams and recommend new tools or updates based on project needs and technological advancements.

Design, develop, and automate quality reporting frameworks to track important testing metrics and provide applicable insights.

Collect, run, and share quality reports including test results, performance reports, and other key metrics with partners.

Create real-time dashboards and visualizations to provide visibility into test execution and overall software quality.

Partner with Development teams to design and integrate quality gates into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring that quality checks are performed automatically at each stage of the development process.

Implement automated quality checks (e.g., unit tests, code coverage, performance benchmarks) to enforce quality gates in the build pipeline and monitor and improve the quality gate process to ensure minimal impact on development speed.

Work with development and QA teams to ensure quality is integrated into the SDLC, including ensuring that the right quality checks are in place at every stage.

Partner with teams using JIRA to ensure that quality-related tasks, issues, and test results are tracked and reported throughout the SDLC.

Be an enabler team and assist developers in setting up test environments, running performance/load tests, providing test coverage insights, and creating and maintaining documentation for testing tools, pipelines, and reporting systems.

Your Moneris Career - What you bring

3+ years of experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) or in a similar role with a focus on test tools, automation, and reporting.

3+ years’ experience in programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar.

3+ years’ experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Playwright, JUnit, Cypress, Karate, Rest Assured) and performance/load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling).

3+ years’ experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar, with experience integrating testing and quality gates into pipelines.

2+ years’ experience with modern test reporting and visualization tools (e.g., Grafana)

Knowledge of cloud-based testing environments (Azure) is IDEAL

Experience designing and automating quality reporting frameworks to capture and present test results and key metrics.

Collaboration skills with the ability to work in an agile, fast paced environment to ensure that quality is maintained throughout the SDLC.

Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts and report on quality metrics to all partners.

Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify challenges and develop solutions related to testing tools, reporting, and pipeline integration.
